A series reboot is always a challenging endeavor to hoist upon your shoulders *cough, cough Marvel* but the new Spider-Man resurrection does look promising. Meet the new Spider-Man, Josh Hutcherson. He’s some kid that’s been in some movies that I didn’t bother going to, and he looks more like the Ultimate version of Spider-Man as opposed to the cliche hunched-over shoulder nerd look that we’re used to. And with the addition of Marc Webb as the director, we could see a 180 degree turn in terms of overall look, feel, and  hopefully, suckness.

“Josh Hutcherson (Journey to the Center of the Earth) has been cast as Sony’s new Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, which is being directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer). This ends month of speculation about who would play the new Peter Parker/Spidey and (as with any big answer) opens the door to new questions…

Sony said early on the goal was to make the franchise more ‘youth-oriented’ and ‘gritty’ (apparently that’s not an oxymoron); Webb was hired to direct likely because of the stylish youth-cool vibe he created in 500 Days of Summer, and of course, the glaring pun of his name. But then we started hearing actors being nominated for Peter Parker who seemed a bit too old to be playing high school students (sorry Jim Sturgess).”

I swear to God, if there’s a scene where the characters break out into a musical number I’m going to lose it. Maybe I should bring some tomatoes and rotten lettuce just in case. Or a Vuvuzela.
